Artistically airbrushed t-shirts, license plates, and posters are always a hit product at county fairs, community festivals, and other events, and if you have an artistic hand and the right equipment, this is a lucrative business to operate. However, in order to be good at what you do, you must have the right equipment on hand, and a portable air compressor that is good for airbrushing processes is one of those pieces of equipment. If you are just building your business, the air compressor will likely be one of the first things you buy. Take a look at some of the features you should be looking for in a portable air compressor for your airbrushing business.
Make sure the air compressor is fairly quiet.
Portable air compressors tend to be much quieter than their larger counterparts, but some models will be quieter than others. It is critical that you pick the models that have the quietest operation for your airbrushing business for a few reasons. For one, if you are offering your products at an event, the noise can be a major interference and a nuisance in a crowd of people. Secondly, if you have someone taking orders while you work at these events, it will be difficult to hear customer instructions.
Make sure the air compressor has precision air flow adjustment.
When you are using an air compressor for your airbrush equipment, you will need to have precise control over the air pressure supplied to the spray gun. Too much pressure and you will end up with splattered paint all over your pieces; too little pressure and you can achieve even saturation of color. Having direct control over airflow will allow you to adjust the pressure to feed the airbrush gun in a way that suits what you are trying to achieve while you paint.
Make sure the air compressor is small enough.
If your airbrushing business is a portable one, it is super important that the equipment you have is small enough to be portable and small enough that it does not take up a lot of space. When you rent a booth at certain events, you can have very limited space to work in, so if you have a huge air compressor to tow around, it can severely inhibit how much space you have to work. Go with a smaller, portable version that is easy to transport and tuck under a table.
